RV Tips

Road-Ready RV

If you’re planning an autumn-colors tour (and if you’re not, why not?!), you’ll want to get your RV ready for heading into cooler climates. A quick RV service appointment can make sure all the cool-season features you need on your RV (fireplace, furnace, etc.) are in good working order, and can also take care of any accidentally overdue service checks.

RV Tips

Some of the things we can check to make sure are in good working condition include the following:

  • Tank heaters
  • Furnace
  • Propane tanks
  • Tires, hitch, and brakes
  • Smoke/CO detectors and other safety features
  • Roof and seals for cracks or damage
  • Oil change and/or other fluid checks, fills, and changes

Pack Your Bags

It’s time to change the normal stuff you pack! Head into brisk autumn days totally prepared by packing the following:

  • Extra socks
  • Even more extra socks
  • Quick-dry fabrics for pants and long sleeve t-shirts
  • Weather-resistant boots/shoes
  • Fleece or weather-resistant jacket for cool or rainy days
  • Quick-dry fabrics or long sleeve t-shirts
  • Fleece jacket for outer layer + a weather-resistant jacket for rainy days
  • Base layers – should be close fitting with moisture-wicking, breathable fibers like merino wool
RV Tips

For seasonal gear, plan to include extras of things you might need on a rainy fall day, such as waterproof matches, ponchos, and hand warmers (reusable versions are cost effective!).

Meal Plan

A good meal mantra for fall camping trips is, “In a bowl and with a spoon!” This is the time of year that you can start the day right with a warm and hearty bowl of oatmeal, fix hot sandwiches around lunch, and enjoy your favorite stew, chili, or soup for supper.

RV Tips

Don’t forget warm drinks like apple cider and hot cocoa for sipping in the evening as you enjoy the fireplace in the living room – wearing a warm and dry fresh pair of socks (which you packed a lot of, because we told you to).
